Nebraska developed three educational programs to deal with the extreme weather experienced by the state in the last year. Educational packets, with extensive mold information, were prepared for those in attendance and copies also provided to FEMA and the Red Cross emergency sites. Eleven news media releases were given to the Extension Educators for use in their local media, and to assist in answering questions. These topics related to mold and moisture and using disaster resistant construction in rebuilding (to resist water entry, damage to roofs etc. thereby preventing water entry.) Two additional articles were provided to UN-L's Community and Information Technology for distribution to all NE media and radio stations. As are result of these releases, three radio stations called for interviews in which the specialist briefly discussed the need to prevent mold. Two radio programs were taped with CIT for distribution to all NE radio stations and was streamed for viewing on the IANR webpage. Nebraska also developed a mold packet that includes among other items: EPA's Mold Remediation in Schools and Commercial Buildings and the A Brief Guide to Mold, Moisture, and Your Home, North Dakota's Keep Your Home Healthy, Preventing Mold and Mildew in Homes, a listing of resource websites, etc.
