Recent program highlights in Georgia include developing numerous new Healthy Homes materials and winning the National Radon Poster Contest. The "Help Yourself to a Healthy Home" publication is distributed to consumers by Family and Consumer Science agents via seminars and one-on-one consultations. Exhibits are being developed to support this program. We have also established a partnership with the EPA's Children Environmental Health Program. http://www.fcs.uga.edu/ext/pubs/house.php . As a partner with the National Center for Healthy Homes, UGA provides trainings for professionals on healthy homes and lead safe work practices. The radon education program received the 2008 EPA Clean Air Excellence award. Upcoming programs include lowering the level of volatile organic compounds inside and reducing tracking in of contaminants from outside. |
